I didn't really mean to do this...

I only wanted to leave a comment on someone's blog, but they wouldn't let me do that without creating an account. One thing led to another, and here I am, slightly startled, with a blog of my own.

I'd been idly toying with the idea of starting a blog, but concluded (though that's too firm a word for it) that I wouldn't update it often enough to make it worthwhile. I enjoyed writing a diary while at a previous job, but that was using someone else's time. My own is too precious to devote a lot of it to a blog. And many of the issues that were troubling me in those days have now receded, I'm glad to say.

Still, it might be fun. I read enough blogs as it is. Perhaps it's time I contributed something of my own.
